The Galaxy Z Fold series packs cutting-edge technology into a flexible form factor that folds and unfolds the device’s large display.
Unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked 2024, the Galaxy Z Fold6 has wowed consumers with a sleek design and new features that showcase the endless possibilities of foldable phones. As strong as ever, with a more compact and lighter body, the latest device in the Z Fold series comes equipped with Galaxy AI technology, optimized for use in foldable phones to take user productivity to the next level.
What are the secrets behind the Galaxy Z Fold6’s innovations? Samsung Newsroom goes inside.

Main Display
The main display features a peak brightness of 2600 nits, making it clear and easy to see even in bright daylight. Vision Booster further enhances the viewing experience by optimizing the colors and contrast of images for different lighting environments.
Wing Plate
The Wing Plate helps the Galaxy Z Fold6 fold and unfold smoothly. Sliding between the display and the hinge, the Wing Plate aligns to the inside and protects the display from any mechanical damage. Despite being extremely thin, the Wing Plate is made of a special, strong material.
Hinge
The hinge acts as the central axis for folding and unfolding the phone. Because thinner devices require narrower hinge spaces, advanced hinge technology is essential to make foldable products as thin as possible without sacrificing hinge performance and stability. The Galaxy Z Fold6’s hinge is smaller and thinner than the previous one, but just as durable thanks to new, reinforced materials. Thanks to the new hinge, Samsung has been able to create an ultra-portable phone that is easy to take anywhere, anytime.
Front Cover
The front glass is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, but just as durable. Made from upgraded Armor Aluminum, the front securely wraps around and protects the foldable phone’s internal components like armor. The cover’s IP48-rated water resistance means the Galaxy Z Fold6 can also be safely used on rainy days.
Vapor Chamber
Vapor chambers dissipate heat to prevent smartphones from overheating. The larger the vapor chamber, the better it can dissipate heat and allow devices to maintain stable performance. Samsung included a vapor chamber in the Galaxy Z Fold6 that is about 1.6 times larger than the one in the Galaxy Z Fold5.

Main Battery
Samsung has included a slimmer main battery in the device to perfect its slimmer design. Unlike the one in a bar-type smartphone, the main battery of the Galaxy Z Fold6 is split into two parts.
Secondary Battery
The secondary battery is located on the opposite side of the main battery and has also been slimmed down to fit the Galaxy Z Fold’s sleek design.
Main PBA
The brain of a smartphone, the main PBA (Printed Board Assembly) board, contains core parts such as the application processor and memory. To achieve the Galaxy Z Fold’s slimmer design, Samsung switched from using a stacked multi-layer main PBA to a single-layer one.
Secondary PBA
The secondary PBA contains the chips responsible for operating the device’s display and speakers. A thin printed circuit board (PCB) was used for the secondary PBA.
Back Cover
The back cover is the final stage of the Galaxy Z Fold6’s manufacturing process. In addition to protecting the internal components, it also highlights the foldable device’s sleek design. Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2, known for its excellent durability, is incorporated into the back cover, assuring users that their phones are well protected.
Secondary Display
Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold6 features a horizontally wider and well-balanced screen ratio that greatly improves the usability of the foldable device. Users can fold their device and still enjoy a comfortable viewing experience with just the secondary display. Like the main display, the secondary display can also reach up to 2,600 nits brightness, giving users a clear view of their displays even in bright daylight.
